Royce da 5’9″ – Shake This (DVDRiP)

I think this is an exclusive? Dunno, thanks to the director himself! Normally I don’t post MViD’s but hey. It’s Christmas evening for everyone, so here is my present to y’all! I encoded it in XviD to make it a smaller size and keep the quality:

Royce da 5’9″ – Shake This (Prod. by DJ Premier) (DVDRiP)

Funny, this song is growing more and more on me. I really like it now, but when it was first leaked in the beginning of the summer without tags nobody knew it was produced by DJ Premier, and no one was hyped on it. Then suddenly it was produced by DJ Premier and everyone jumped on it. Me too, it’s a different Premier style! Make sure you install the XviD encode to watch the video!

All we can do is reminisce…

DJ Premier & Fred Durst Pt. II

About that story, it has an ending. You know DJ Premier thought in the beginning (just like me) that Fred Durst is a clown. But after the produced songs he came more positive in the picture. Well, I forgot this interview with Freddie Foxx… Fred Durst is still a clown. Nuttin’ changed, he actually mislead Premo. Here is a short part of the interview:

Freddie Foxxx – Like when I talk about Fred Durst. I think he’s a cocky bastard who thinks he’s bigger then everybody. He indicated that in the way he treated Premier when Premier reached out for him to try to put down a Gangstarr Foundation label with him. He was with it at first, but then he backed out and didn’t return his calls and it was real foul how he treated him.

ThaFormula – So Fred Dursts’ bitch ass dissed Premier huh?

Freddie Foxxx – Yeah, big time.

ThaFormula – But why would you wanna hook up with a chump like that anyway?

Freddie Foxxx – But see the thing is it was business. Premier was sayin’ “listen I got this label with all these hot rappers on it. You fund it and let’s make money. You don’t have to be involved. Nobody needs Fred Durst input. I told Premier, “yo dog I’m only gonna fuck with the situation if you do you. I’m not fucking with him directly cause he ain’t really Hip-Hop. He’s using Hip-Hop to get a platform to do other shit like Kid Rock did. So fuck them! I’m really about my culture and about what this music is about. Fuck all them clowns man.

50 Cent beat goes to NYGz

DJ Premier recently revealed to New York radio personality Peter Rosenberg that he made a track for 50 Cent that was turned down. XXLmag.com chopped it up with the beat making legend to get the inside scoop on what happened with the song and how it would have been the perfect vehicle for Fif to push the reset button on his career.

Apparently Preemo submitted the song for 50’s upcoming album Before I Self Destruct. And as he tells it, this would have been the G-Unit leader’s perfect re-introduction to hip-hop audiences as a hardcore rapper.

“I use[d] his voice from “Guess Who’s Back” – ‘You’re now rocking with 50 Cent. Are you ready? I said are you ready,’ he described to XXL. “You know how he says that, with that like cocky attitude? I used that and scratching in the beginning with like this real mellow beat and the drums are smacking. It’s like setting it up like ‘Yo I’m back on my grizzly shit. I’m about to come rough.’”

Premier, who has worked with most of New York’s most influential artists, including The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Nas, said the track wasn’t one of his greatest but it would have worked in 50’s favor. “It’s not like the illest beat I ever done but the fact that he wants to bring it back to the pure essence, I definitely know how to make sure that we’re on the right track for a street record. “

While he says that Curtis would have sounded amazing over the beat, he’s not upset that the song was turned down. “Bringing that old voice back is almost like if he hit the reset button. So I could totally hear 50 killing that song…I’m not mad though. Fif’s my dude.”

Even though you won’t be hearing the track on 50’s new album, Preemo said the beat didn’t end up on the cutting room floor. He gave it to the NYGz, who are signed to his Year Round imprint, for a song called “Ready?”

Too bad, I would love to hear 50 Cent on Premo beat. Reminds me how nice he sounded when he was at Columbia. Get ready for NYGz!

DJ Premier & Fred Durst

It’s late now so I tought lets post something small! Not only me, but also DJ Premier thought Fred Durst was wack in the beginning and “N 2 Gether Now” isn’t entirely produced by DJ Premier!

The story is that the manager of Preem asked him to do a song for Limp Bizkit, he said first “nah, that guy can’t rap man!”. But his manager said “Method Man will be on it, give it a shot”, so they met at D&D Studios and Fred was like “I know you think I can’t rap and stuff, but I’m so glad we are here now. I got all your Tape Kingz, with G Depp“. And just like with Christina Aguilera (who loved Group Home) Premo was like “You know about Tape Kingz & G Depp, word, lets do this”. And the original “N 2 Gether Now” is actually produced by DJ Lethal and Preem just had to remake it with his boombap style. So DJ Premier didn’t choose the sample. You can still hear the original version instrumental on the B Side of the vinyl release, it’s a pressing mistake he said.

Afterwards Limp Bizkit had a pyjamaparty in the playboy mansion and Preem was invited to spin some records and he took HeadQcourterz (RIP) with him and played classic hip hop in mr. Hefner‘s crib with all the bunnies.

In 2000 and 2001 he did two more remixes for Fred Durst.

DJ Premier on Q Da Kid’s Debut Album

LiveFromHQ 20/12/2008

Last night DJ Premier said on his radio show that he went yesterday in the studio with Q Da Kid to record a song. Q Da Kid is actually a new MC in the game. He is from Brooklyn and is recently signed to Def Jam. The record will be on his debut album that is coming in 2009. So get ready!

Next: DJ Premier is going to work also on the next UGK album with Bun B and Pimp C (RIP), the song isn’t recorded yet so nothing is sure as you know!

Also no guests tonight, DJ Premier and his team only, Big Shug on the phone once again. Next week Preem will be in Texas for the holidays so it will be again a pre taped show. I hope he brings some new shit!

Now about Blaq Poet, about Blaq Poet… The album is delayed once again. Sorry folks… It’s now ready to release in February! The video for “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed” will drop in 2/3 weeks and will be edited tomorrow so that will be dope.

DJ Premier started the show with a story about him going to texas last week to see AC/DC. He is a big fan of AC/DC just like his sister. To get to the point, Preem weights 114 kg. Now we all know lol, the question is solved! Because they hadn’t any T-Shirts left excepts three larges… He was funny about it.

Now a smaller sidenote for the sample heads, Lord Finesse’s “Keep The Crowd Listening (DJ Premier Remix)” doesn’t has any samples, he did all the instrumentals himself. And that track is dope as hell, Preem did it! Listen:
