“-can you remember way back ,the history of our times,
-the people, places, loves, struggles, shine imprinted in time
-simply divine
-but none receive the message inside
-cuz if they did, id guarantee no need for his mind
-its like i’m high
-I know it cause i feel it inside
– Conversate with keith elam, sayin “just let me shine”
-Riddled in swine
-a thought that stayed imprinted in mind,
-hip hops fallen father, everyone else is blind”
i hope that in all of this we see that true music is slowly fading, what was a gift that was given to voice our struggles, and a method to show the youth who we were. Remember 89,93,97, we were true kings ,and OWNERZ of our art ,now only to be overshadowed by money, greed, and envy. Even in his passing we contemplate a “he said , she said” instead of seeing and listening to the words he gave his soul too. As he was in life , he never rested on this hip hop shit, so in his death , i say Live in Peace. I assured myself that hip hop was for me when his words spoke to my soul. Tell me can you say that about the ego’s today?? Forever influencing my life :GIFTED UNLIMITED RHYMES UNIVERSAL
R.I.P. Guru. I’m still shocked at his passing. Especially since i didn’t know he was battling cancer. Gangstarr was one of the first hip hop artist that truly got my attention around 88-89 due to the conscientiousness of the lyrics and Premo’s groundbreaking beats. Just thinking about all the collabos through the years with the likes of tribe, L.O.N.S., Freddie Foxx and Jeru, not to mention the Jazzamatazz series makes one understand the impact and legacy Gangstarr left on Hip Hop and music in general. Again R.I.P. Guru, and God Bless to his family and DJ Premier. Godspeed.
Guru was born in 1961? My dude WAS triple O.G status. R.I.P muh mane.
The bald head slick, you were a genius. Now i cant help but COLLECT PROPS. Word to you. Real niggas all over the world, esp Nigeria would miss you
Scarface is the coolest ever after Snaggle-puss. Nobody but KRS can come close. Other than maybe Redman, Busta, Rakim, and Black Poet. I’m remembering Guru too, and think of “Betrayal” feat. Scarface as one of the illest joints ever! Peace. Yes, I’ve been drinking! But I’m still sincere with this here!
guru will always be in my legends and one of the people who made me want to do hip hop
