This post is a tribute to Wild Pitch Records. Gang Starr’s label from ’89 till ’90.
Wild Pitch Records was a hip hop record label started in the mid 1980s by Stuart Fine and was eventually distributed by EMI and eventually acquired by Jay Faires, who tried to reactivate it as part of his short-lived JCOR Entertainment label. Artists who released records under this label include Main Source, Lord Finesse, Ultramagnetic MCs, Chill Rob G, Gang Starr, UMC’S, O.C., Brokin English Klik, Hard knocks, and the Coup. Since the majority of its albums were released in the early 90’s and went out of print, Wild Pitch re-released their catalog on April 22, 2008.
I was boring through my hard disc and this popped up. Some never released/rarities/promos/demos from Wild Pitch just before they wrapped the label up. I remember downloading it years back on some vintage old skool forum LOL. The recordings have a date range from 1995 to 1997. The quality sound isn’t that great though. But I thought it would be fun to share, very interesting ;). 90s Hip Hop >>> my/your life.

Real hip hop is a movement, nobody can stop it. Just saying. Now that I think about it, kinda weird how interested I am in 90s hip hop… or am I not the only one? haha.
your not the only one
i been bumping early 90’s hiphop for a while now
non stop
shits way hotter then 90% of todays hiphop
thx gim! this what they call the real hip hop!!!!!….and I agree with kaohtix!!
Would be cool if you put all of them in a zip or rar file.
Every single artist on that label had a beef with Stu Fine. He was doing some mad shady business. That’s probably why they asked you to take down the DJ Eclipse show? But I thought he sold it?
Thanks for sharing!
thankyou for these.
O.C. is top 5 living emcees in my opinion, hes sooooo DOPE.
there alot of real hip hop out there,
you just gotta know where to look.
Here an album that will be in my best album of 2011 list
MALCOLM & MARTIN – LIFE DOESN’T FRIGHTEN ME
It feels like pure hip hop, it even has a DJ only track, with REVOLUTION just cutting and scratching.
O.C. – Outsiders was recently re-released on the Ozone Originals EP, along with a bunch of other unreleased demos meant for Word…Life.
throw all these in a zip and im good to go
