Blaq Poet Is Back With A New Album “Blaq Poet Society” In 5 Years

Because DJ Premier always told us “The Blaqprint” was a pre album prior to the since 2006 announced album “The Best That Never Dunn It” fully produced by DJ Premier. It seems like we won’t see that very soon so Blaq Poet decided to release something different. “Blaq Poet Society” out on June 21th through Brick Records. I love Blaq Poet, do you guys want me to post further tracks of him or not? Because it isn’t really Premo related anymore… it’s up to you. Also shout out to Stu Bangas.

Pete Rock Can’t Wait To Beat DJ Premier On Upcoming Collabo Album

Pete Rock joins us for a superb feature-length interview exploring the making of his new projects with DJ Premier, Smif N Wessun and Camp Lo, plus his forthcoming aspirations to work with Eminem, his contribution to Kayne and Jay Z’s album, as well as a track called ‘The Joy’ which didn’t make Kayne’s album and his desire to be part of The Four Horsemen project. We take time to hear the amazing creative process behind his forthcoming on wax battle with DJ Premier, with neither producer hearing what each other has contributed to the album until it is pressed. As focused and heart-warming as you would expect form such a legendary pioneer, Pete Rock also discusses how many beat she has submitted to Shady Records, his future work with the recently-released Prodigy, the reason for his initial dislike for Kayne West, being disillusioned by the direction hip hop took in the late 90s and the prospect of a new Pete Rock & CL Smooth album. A true classic. Check:

I can’t wait to have my own opinion on who won!! But I know I will have to wait!! 😀

Lady of Rage upcoming album “Verbal Abuse” is 95% fixed by DJ Premier

The Lady Of Rage is late for the interview. She’s late for the interview for good reason though – she was in the hair salon having her hair done. When she does arrive we discuss her brand new album “Verbal Abuse” scheduled for a summer 2011 release, production handled 95% by the master DJ Premier, as well as taking a heart-felt look at her career including her time at Death Row Records, her relationship with Suge Knight and Dr Dre and her contribution to the book “How To Rap: The Art and Science of the Hip-Hop MC. This sounds like one of Preems hardest working years? Who’s next? Too bad we don’t see the albums on time though :D. But I accepted it lmao.

Guru’s Family Announces Tribute to Rapper On Death Anniversary

March 24, 2011 – New York, NY – Revive Music Group celebrates their 5th Anniversary with a mind-bending, monumental Revive Da Live Big Band Tribute to G.U.R.U. and the Jazzmatazz Legacy under the direction of pianist Marc Cary and trumpeter Igmar Thomas, featuring some of G.U.R.U.’s legendary collaborators as special guests. Special Guests will be announced in the following weeks. The celebration will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City and is brought to you in conjunction with the Elam family in memoriam of the 1st Anniversary of Keith “G.U.R.U” Elam’s passing.

Keith Elam aka Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal or Guru, departed this earth on April 19, 2010. He left behind a legacy of innovation, creativity, and experimentation among his many other gifts. Whether contributing his raspy voice to the production of DJ Premier in Gang Starr or fusing his vocal abilities through his own Jazzmatazz projects, G.U.R.U. always pushed the boundaries. Among the many collaborators on the Jazzmatazz albums, jazz legends such as Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, and Branford Marsalis shined as instrumental innovators in the field of hip-hop.

The event will include a Raffle by G.U.R.U.’s nephew, Justin Elam-Ruff, debuting the The X Label: G.U.R.U.’s Clothing Line – “Preserving his MESSAGE, his MUSIC, his LEGACY.” Special appearances by the Elam family and G.U.R.U’s renowned collaborators will make this a truly unique event.
