Snippets:
A fully Pete Rock collabo album since I don’t know, support!! Preem’s up next! Real hip hop for ever!!
Pete Rock is dead… just like Hip-Hop !!
Man, this is jammin.. Mt. Vernon rep. But doode.. And this is all respect, that cover is terrible..
i get it, monument. :/ Cmon family, your audience is mature and artistically inclined.
Big ups though, sound great!
pete’s beats suck ball
i used to love pete rock beats! but this? this sounds mad amateurish. wheres your high quality boom bap shit pete? shame on you.
Damn…
Yall kidding about Pete’s beats sucking. Not Preem’s level but they still bang.
uh oh get ready ya’ll
Pete lost his style. whres the signature hi-hat?
Sampler sounds good. I will cop it…
Smif and Wesson will neva top The Shining Album tho…
Nothing but bangers from beginning to end..
Are y’all kidding about Pete Rock?! C’mon now, these beats sound really dope.
Didn’t want to ruin the the whole release so I checked the first 4 tracks. Sounded pretty good to me.
Errr sounds average to me … need to listen to the full album to really judge tho.
Where’s Pete Rock Style????? Daamnn:(( It’s not Pete
dope release.
Great Album. S&W sound good over PR beats.
WSJ
this sampler is terrible, and I’d be surprised if the album is any better.
Gim is telling us to support. But honestly, it’s these type of albums that are ruining hip hop (among other things).
These cats are washed the fuck up. I don’t know how you can listen to this and say “this is dope.” Amateurish, bland beats (where’s PR signature hi-hat?!) with bland braggadocio rhymes and flows.
It’s like I can’t win with this hip hop shit. Either the old guys are steady making weak product and/or the new cats are just making pop garbage and trying to tell me it’s hip hop.
I just don’t know what to say. The only reason we even gave a fuck about this project is because we love Dah Shinin and the tons of classic PR beats. Which means we were hoping to get that. So give the fans what they want. Not some bland non-PR sounding crapola.
yeah man, this joint really isn’t all that unfortunately. i really think the beatminerz should have been the one to bring back smif-n-wessun. Da Shinin was one of the best albums of the 90’s. pete rock’s style doesn’t even really mesh with them and the beats are a bit bland. no real ill production, samples, etc.
i was really hoping for something better but it’s time to pass the torch to the new school while still keeping the 90’s fresh with those artists who weren’t able to shine back then…peace
Delusion…Pete Rock lost the magic touch.
Wow. I’m really disappointed.
It doesn’t look like I’m going to buy this album. And that’s a REALLY bad sign. Pete Rock seems like he lost his touch years ago.
It seems like ever since he started using the MPC, his beats just got more and more bland. I think it’s time to move on from Pete Rock.
I don’t see why everyone loves this album. This will receive nothing but a thumbs down for me. Average is not good enough.
Sampler is bland. Other than That’s Hard there’s no bangers here.
Leaves me wondering if the PR vs Premo album is going to disappoint too
I’m hoping to GOD its just the sampler thats wack !! This don’t sound hot at all.
This album is crazy!!…i need it!!
it’s hard to pass judgement after only hearing short snippets. to me it sounds like solid work. just leaves me wondering ” where are pete’s signature horns”? haha.. c’mon dudes, it’s 2011, things done change, get with the program.
