Joel Ortiz – Project Boy (Premier’s Bass Break Version) (Radio Rip)

It’s been some time when a track produced by DJ Premier got so hyped up by the hip hop media like this one, damn! So Premo made a new version of the beat, I think it’s called the “Break Version”. But I’m not quit sure though… Also look out for the remix of “Project Boy” featuring Noreaga… Enjoy:

Joell Ortiz should be on Year Round Records, just the thought to get it on the vinyl alone…

Soulbrotha – Real MCs (Feat. Blaq Poet, NYGz & Krumb Snatcha) (Prod. by Soulbrotha) (Radio Rip)

Soulbrotha from Germany were last night guests on Premo’s LiveFromHQ chilling. DJ Premier played this new track from them that will appear on their next 12″ somewhere in may with Largo Pro on the B-Side. A-side contains this track featuring NYGz, Blaq Poet & Krumb Snatcha! I personally love it, enjoy:

Need that 12″!

Joell Ortiz – Project Boy (Street Version) REAL CDQ

Finally, props to DJ Premier himself who send this one out… A real CDQ version of “Project Boy”, the other onces were low bitrate so how you can call it CD Quality?? Enjoy:

I wonder if this gonna end up on vinyl…

New MC Eiht Tracks Produced by Brenk

What do we got here? Two new tracks of MC Eiht‘s upcoming album “Which Way Is West?” that will be released on Year Round Records. Executive produced by DJ Premier, he will produce 2-3 joints and Marco Polo & NYGz are also on the project. These two tracks were already heard in the sample I posted some time ago, now you have them in full quality. Both are produced by European producer Brenk, enjoy:

MC Eiht – So Well (Prod. by Brenk)

MC Eiht – Ride On ‘Em (Produced by Brenk)

All this is coming this summer…

Joell Ortiz – Project Boy

First I did the radio rip and here’s the mp3. Note, it’s not the CDQ. It seems he wants to hold it back for a while, the ‘CDQ’ you can find on some blogs is only low bitrate… Here you have the mp3 rip of the HD version. Mastered a bit and it’s good to bang your mp3 player! I’m not so kind on the song though, but a lot of you do so enjoy:

VINTAGE: Forbidden Fruit Demo Single 1993 (Prod. by Vada Nobles)

Among the random stuff I got to review when I was in high school was a cassette single by a crew named Forbidden Fruit. They were on the no-name “Big Boss Records” (located at 202 St. Nicholas Ave in New York, now the home of 21st Century Urology, which is probably not a hip-hop label) and the cassette single was so cheap that the O-card was literally scotch-taped together. Forbidden Fruit was a two-man crew that bore a striking resemblance, in terms of sound, to Naughty By Nature. It was 1993, so it’s got the piano-heavy production and Treach Lite-like flows. Obvious NBN derivation aside, I really like these tracks. The horns that drop in on “Keep It In Mind” sound awkward and out of place, but how can you not love that Tony D-style piano loop. Production is credited to Vada Nobles (who co-produced Lauryn Hill’s solo album) and Forbidden Fruit.

I haven’t seen this one floating around anywhere else, so I’m guessing this particular single is pretty rare. Both vocals and instrumentals are included from the original cassette single.

I can’t repeat how much I love those old things that still surface the internet. But no words are spend on the fact if they’re actually Fabidden Fruit of Mike Rone & H. Stax?? But I think so, the name, the city, the amount of persons in the group, … Can’t be no one else, can it??

Ok, they don’t look like each other, so who are they? Nonetheless, I post what I like. Lets go further to the real F.A.B.I.D. I heard Fabidden Fruit for the first time when they were on Guru‘s Ill Kid label in 1995, later they rhymed over a couple of DJ Premier beats before they were preparing their debut album that should came out last year… I’m still waiting… Remember that unreleased Premo track “Get It In”, damn! Now enjoy this dope demo single from 1993 before the cassette snaps from a different Fabidden Fruit?! Sorry if you already got it.

Props to Normal Bias who ripped it last year!

Kool Sphere (of Verbal Threat) – Supply & Demand (Feat. Smiley the Ghetto Child & Lil Dap) (Prod. by Weirdo)

Here we have a new exclusive track from Kool Sphere of Verbal Threat, and I really like it. It’s featuring Gang Starr Foundation members Smiley the Ghetto Child & Lil Dap (of Group Home). Kool Sphere just finished his first solo album “Integritty” that is coming out soon with features like Lil Dap, Smiley The Ghetto Child, Smoothe Da Hustler, Verbal Threat, Kool G Rap, Tame-One (from Artifacts) and Rhona Bennett (from En Vogue). That’s how you keep it real in this rap game!! I recently copped his pre-album (or whatever you wanna call it) with a lot of unreleased joints that are banging real good, you can check out the samples here. I can’t wait for this album to drop. This joint is produced by Weirdo from Italy, I know the dude from back in time when he was promoting his beats on forums. Respect for him! “Reality Check” still gives me a boner haha, Verbal Threat didn’t split btw, they actually working on a new album. Now enjoy Kool Sphere, be on the look out:

Juice Crew – Mr. Magic Tribute (DJ Premier Remix); HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. MAGIC

Damn, now time for some positive music! It’s Mr. Magic‘s birthday today and how could we forget that? DJ Premier couldn’t, DJ Eclipse couldn’t. Big up to DJ Eclipse, very friendly guy! Here you have such a dope remix done by Premo with the Juice Crew. You will recognize the beat, he played it as intro on his tribute mix. He said he made this beat in a short time as I remember. The track features Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan, Craig G, Roxanne Shante, Biz Markie, TJ Swan & Marley Marl. How fucking dope is that??!! Just what I needed today… Enjoy people, DJ Premier Blog by gimantalon!

Jeru the Damaja x Rahzel Freestyle

Last night we had Jeru the Damaja and Rahzel on LiveFromHQ. DJ JS-1 filled in for DJ Premier because he’s on an European tour with Blaq Poet, Nick Javas and Termanology. Term was originally on a tour with Statik Selektah and Saigon if I’m correct, but he couldn’t enter the UK after some problems, send back to Switzerland where they original came from. Luckily DJ Premier started his tour in Switzerland and Termanology could go with them and rocked the boat! Blaq Poet was also in Europe earlier touring with 12 Finger Dan. It was a dope show last night, good to hear Jeru again. There’s absolutely no beef between him and the Gang Starr Foundation, he’s all Gang Starr Foundation. Now he’s preparing an album with DJ JS-1, but no further details were given. Here’s a dope freestyle by Jeru the Damaja (who was tipsy) with beatboxing Rahzel, can it get any doper??

Dirty CDQ Version of Goldyn Chyld (DJ Premier Remix)

I’m sitting now quit some time on this one. I don’t know if this is an exclusive or something for the collectors, but I never saw a dirty CDQ version of this jewel before on the internet (why? read on…). You could find the dirty version on the 12″ release in 2002 by Priority Records who also released a promo CDS of this track with only the clean version on it.

I tagged it as “DJ Premier Remix”, and it is a remix, but it isn’t tagged like that on the vinyl release. But the notes tells us that the original version will appear on his next album “Goldyn Chyld”, but that album never came out due to troubles with the law and label. So this dirty version could never see the daylight. I also have the original version somewhere on my hard disc, but that one is produced by someone else (released on some advanced version of the album maybe?). Arguably Ras Kass best track. Like I said, forgotten jewel. I almost forgot, it’s a jewel rejected by -who else- Jay-Z. You see him rhyme on this beat around The Blueprint era?

Enjoy you DJ’s:
