Guru Issues Official Statement About Health Status

There are a lot of rumors and wrong information circulating around about Guru‘s current situation and health status.

Hit producer and Guru’s longtime partner Superproducer Solar wants to make clear that only he has access to Guru and his doctors and he would appreciate if people would respect Guru’s privacy in this matter.

“Guru is resting and doing well after his surgery. The doctors say that he will fully recover from his illness. We thank everyone who send prayers our way and we appreciate the outpouring of love from around the world!”

Guru, the sole founder of the world famous Hip-Hop group Gang Starr, who is currently recovering from his surgery, issued an official statement about his health status and addressed people who are spreading wrong information.

“I am doing fine and I am recovering! I’m weak though. Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false! I appreciate your well wishes and all the love!” says the legendary MC.

Guru, born Keith Elam, has suffered a heart attack over the weekend in New York City and Hip-Hop fans around the world have shown massive love and support to one of the greatest rappers of all time.

During what must be an incredibly hard and stressful period in life, keep sending your prayers, thoughts, and wishes to the Elam family!

Personal input: I’m really glad Guru is going to be alright, I never doubt that though. But did Guru really said that quote? Hmm… But thank god, finally an “official” statement (with a beautiful twist of Superproducer Solar). The Twitter shit got me crazy, best wishes to his family and himself.

EDIT: Please people, watch this. Support his family trough this horrible time.

Best DJ Premier Beat of 2009

Ow shit, I think I’m kinda late with this one haha. I was to lazy plus I still need to think for a next vote… If DJ Premier reads this, I think it’s a close picture of what your fanbase thinks what the best beat of 2009 was… But who cares?

Rank:

1. Blaq Poet – Rap Addiction (170, 17%)
2. Royce da 5’9″ – Something 2 Ride 2 (160, 16%)
3. Capone-N-Noreaga – Grand Loyal (144, 14%)
4. Blaq Poet – I-Gettin (117, 11%)
5. Blaq Poet – Hate (85, 8%)
6. M.O.P. – What I Wanna B (80, 8%)
7. Royce da 5’9″ – Hood Love (67, 6%)
8. Cormega – Make It Clear (58, 5%)
9. NYGz – Ready? (45, 4%)
10. Nick Javas – Opportunity Knocks (30, 3%)
11. Blaq Poet – Never Goodbye (29, 2%)

Thanks to everyone for their vote, it was massive, 950 votes I think!! This blog is doing so fine actually. It’s corny to say 2009 was a good year because I’ll have to say that every year, right. Should I give an award to Blaq Poet? Where is Blaq Poet at??!! The best that never dun it!! Their is a sad part though, no track of the list was released on 12″ single. Props to DJ Premier trying to keep vinyl alive but I’m afraid he will end up alone.

First Image of “Opportunity Knocks” Video Shoot

Yep, they are shooting a video for Nick Javas “Opportunity Knocks”, but first we need to wait for the CDQ! Radio rip here. Look out for the 12″ with “Not A Game” on the B-Side, which will also have a video!

DJ Premier on Big L’s 11th Year of Passing

“I do not like to put my productions on a pedestal since I respect the work of others for my inspiration… But as a fan of hip hop and as a person who respects and lives the culture, I have to be honest based on my taste in the music that I buy, and what I love to blast when I drive around nodding my head to that hardcore shit… I have so many memories of the songs that Big L made when we were in the studio doing the D.I.T.C. sessions… Watching Big L and Showbiz arguing over Malcolm X while we were waiting for Fat Joe to get to the studio to cut vocals for “The Enemy” to name a few… Big L had such a sense of humor reminiscent to Biggie… They were both naturals at being funny and making you laugh non stop without trying to be… I miss them both since I knew them personally and witnessed greatness in my lifetime of recording music professionally… Shouts to his brother Big Don, and R.I.P. to his mother “Pinky” and his brother “Big Lee”… Also shout to Rich King… Flamboyant for life…” –DJ Premier

MC Eiht is Getting Ready for His Next Solo Album

MC Eiht is getting ready for his next solo album. His last solo album “Affiliated” was realesed almost 4 years ago on Paid in Full Entertainment. His next album will be executive produced by DJ Premier (who he recently worked with for the remix of Blaq Poets leading single for “The Blaqprint) on Preems own label Year Round Records. The upcoming album “Which Way Is West” is set to drop in late summer, first details is that Marco Polo is getting in to produce some beats, and that NYGz will be featured on the album. Together with DJ Premier and some other unknown producers he should bring MC Eiht back on the spot where he belongs.

(None of them are produced by DJ Premier!)

Also is getting rumored that Young Maylay is about to sign an album deal with Year Round Records.
